Chris Weir has always loved local history and has written histories of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. He has worked on many heritage projects and is an adult education tutor for history. His love of parks has led to a lifetime interest in brass bands and their association with open spaces, popular culture and the evolution of bandstands. Chris will delve into brass bands , bandstands and public parks. It will look at the development of brass bands and their links to open space ,especially bandstands, with images of both national and local examples of bands and bandstands.
Paul Rabbitts is a passionate landscape architect and parks expert with over 30 years of experience transforming public spaces, from his early work at Carlisle City Council to his current role as Environmental Services Manager in Norwich. A prolific author of 39 books, Paul is also the founder of the Parks Management Association and is pursuing a PhD on Victorian and Edwardian bandstands, all while delivering dynamic lectures across the UK and making captivating media appearances, sharing his deep knowledge of the history and evolution of parks.
