The Nonsuch Pizza Project
2020 - 2021
Creative Nights in with top notch Pizza

How do you have a night-out when you can't leave the house?

With the world locked down and nights out no longer an option, Nonsuch Studios got to work repurposing our Studios and Cafes into a make-shift pizza factory delivering thousands of at-home pizza party kits across Nottinghamshire over the two years of the Covid lockdown.

Working in partnership with over 100 schools, community organisations, charities, food banks and housing associations, every week over 100 pizza kits were dispatched from Nonsuch Studios. In each kit, recipients had enough dough, sauce and cheese to make two hand-made pizzas and all the instructions and videos to make them like a professional even if you didn't have any of the fancy kit. Also inside each box were creative leaflets, qr-codes to party playlists and links to Nonsuch's other at-home creative activities such as Creative Quarantine.

The Pizza Project in Numbers

3823 kits delivered to houses, schools and community groups across Nottinghamshire.

Over 7464 pizzas made.

Nearly 500kg of mozzarella, over 500kg of flour and over 700kg of tomatoes were used over the course of the project.

Every pizza was handmade in large batches - we got very strong after all the kneading!

"The pizzas were provided to vulnerable children and their families who live in poverty, relieving some pressure off the family finances. Importantly during these difficult times, people are struggling, and they felt that people are understanding and caring in these times. They don't often have home cooked meals, and therefore having the opportunity to prepare and enjoy a pizza together was really exciting for them."

"This project was a great chance to support families. It gave the families an opportunity to experience making pizzas together -something that they probably wouldn't experience making something like this from scratch. If they had to buy the ingredients to make the pizza, they wouldn't have and then missed the opportunity. This was an excellent project thank you for giving our children a smile!"
